Relic

Unpublished from the 'Underground Life (high contrast b&w)' series, this high contrast b&w photography captured in 55-300mm VR wide angle illustrates a new relic in the form of public phones. Their near death above ground contrasts with their relatively numerous presence in the underground network of shopping centers, tunnels and metro despite the growing cellular coverage beneath the surface. They are fast becoming a narrative photography subject that relates to our era and its communications revolution and to a window into the past. In this image, the minimal composition highlights the subject that is cleverly positioned, void of users, to give the impression of a slowly departing iconic invention.

Leur presque mort en surface contraste avec leur nombre relativement élevé dans le réseau sous-terrain de centres commerciaux, tunnels et métro malgré la couverture cellulaire grandissante sous la surface. Ils deviennent rapidement un sujet de photographie de narration qui parle de notre époque et de sa révolution des communications et qui nous donne une fenêtre sur le passé. Dans cette image, la composition minimaliste met en vedette le sujet bien positionné, sans utilisateurs, donnant l'impression de lentement disparaître de notre vie.
