Industrial wasteland

This industrial landscape isn't as desolate in real life ; photomagic was applied upon capture and through post production to obtain this result of desolation and waste. Firstly, the time of day, (afternoon light illuminating the foreground grass and buildings), and the time of year (colorless and faded grass from long winter months) were carefully chosen to give the scene as much surrealism and desolation as possible on the time of the snapping. Also, the choice of objective was important ; a wide angle télézoom was selected to create a large and compressed perspective. This created a surreal atmosphere of isolation and an impression of two dimensional cinematic imagery all the more accentuated by the slight vignetting. A long focal and a sun shade ring combined with high ISO settings will create this vignetting. Finally, the monochrome and high contrast editing further accentuates the impressions of surrealism.

Ce paysage industriel n'est pas tant désolant en réalité ; la magie de la photographie a été utilisé lors de la capture et de la poste production afin d'obtenir cette atmosphère de désolation. Pour commencer, le temps de la journée (la lumière de fin d'après-midi illumine l'avant-plan et les édifices), et le moment de l'année (les longs mois d'hiver ayant rendu le sol et le gazon sec et incolore) ont été soigneusement choisi afin de donner à la scène le maximum de surréalisme et de désolation au moment de la capture. De plus, le choix de l'objectif fut très important ; un télé-zoom de grand angle pour créer une perspective compressée et élargie. Ceci créa une atmosphère d'isolement et une impression d'imagerie cinématique bidimensionnelle accentuée par un léger vignettage. Une longue focale et un anneau pare-soleil combiné à un ISO élevé crée ce vignettage. Finalement, l'édition en monochrome et haut contraste accentua davantage cette impression surréaliste.
