1 Place Ville-Marie

The Place Ville-Marie tower is Montreal's most important skyscraper ; the 1962 project, a cruciform 47 floors tower with complete underground network of parking and shopping facilities has changed the city's urban development strategy as a whole. It is responsible for today's most extensive underground network in the world (Montreal's underground city) that comprises 40km of pedestrian tunnels, 1600 boutiques and 400 restaurants all connected to several hotels, office towers, government buildings, underground parking and metro stations. The objective of this series of photograph was to illustrate the building's imposing facade and all around architectural prestance in a vintage cinematic style. Tight framing, perspective, high ISO and black & white high contrast were the four most important settings to consider in order to achieve this.

La tour de la place Ville Marie est le plus important gratte-ciel de Montréal. Ce projet de 1962 comportant la tour cruciforme de 47 étages avec un réseau sous-terrain élaborés de bureaux, boutiques et stationnements a changé la dynamique du design urbain à Montréal. Il est le point de départ et responsable de la ville souterraine telle qu'on la connaît aujourd'hui avec ses 40km de tunnels piétonniers, 1600 boutiques et 400 restaurants qui relient plusieurs hôtels, tour à bureaux, édifices du gouvernement, stationnements et stations de métro. L'objectif de cette série de photographie était d'illustrer l'imposante façade et la prestance architecturale de l'édifice dans un style rétro et cinématique. Le cadrage serré, la perspective, l'ISO élevé et le noir et blanc en contraste élevé étaient les quatre réglages à considérer pour atteindre cet objectif.
