Representational vs Fictional, Figurative vs Abstract, Realism vs Sensationalism, Existentialism vs Romanticism. Photography, like Cinematography, are perhaps the two most frequently revolutionized of the classic arts thanks to the rapidly evolving technologies and the insatiable consumerism of the past 3 decades. These realities have applied all kinds of pressures and much paradox to the art and has blurred significantly the definition of what the role of the Photographer is. I am of the school that all trends and styles have their good reasons for existing even if the artistic value of their results is more or less appreciable. The need of the consumer and media markets for sensationalism has to be fed and so are the needs of philosophy, psychology and humanism with pure representational photography.

sont probablement les deux formes d'art traditionnel a avoir subi le
plus de révolutions en raison de l'évolution rapide des
technologies et du consumérisme insatiable des 30 dernières années.
Ces réalités ont appliqué toutes sortes de pression et beaucoup de
paradoxes a cet art tout en brouillant significativement la
définition du rôle du Photographe. Je suis de l'école que toutes
les tendances et les styles ont leurs bonnes raisons d'exister même
si la valeur artistique de leurs résultats est plus ou moins appréciable. Les besoins du marché de consommation et des médias
pour le sensationnalisme doit être nourri mais aussi ceux de la
philosophie, de la psychologie et de l'humanisme avec la photographie
représentative pure.
