The urban space living

The Blog today is an image excerpt from the series 'Subterraneans - Contact to outside (a Tunnels series)'. It is a perfect example of what I've been trying to achieve these past few months in street photography style and highly symptomatic of my obsession with urbanites. The city built for its citizens feeds on them, on their needs, is modeled by it and them and ends up being the heaven or the hell of these very citizens in regards to  their respective realities. Your own reality will influence largely your interpretation of this image. The urban space and its physical frontiers - infrastructures, walls, fences, ceilings - the space's equipment - lights, escalators, cameras, etc. etc. - all that surrounds the purpose of its existence : the citizen. In return, he creates and projects a psychological space albeit positive or negative. What is precisely my purpose for showing this? I'm not entirely sure about that yet. I just know something is important about these scenes ; important for understanding the then and now and the rapport of the town to its people, even their intertwined history.

Il s'agit d'un parfait exemple de ce que j’essaie d'accomplir avec la photographie de rue et hautement symptomatique de mon obsession pour les urbains. La ville bâtit pour ses citoyens se nourri d'eux, de leurs besoins, est modelée par ça et par eux et devient un paradis ou un enfer pour ces mêmes personnes selon leur réalité respective. Votre propre réalité influencera beaucoup votre interprétation de cette image. L'espace urbain et ses frontières physiques - infrastructures, murs, clôtures, plafonds - l'équipement de l'espace - lumières, escaladeurs, cameras, etc. etc. - tout ça entoure la raison de son existence : le citoyen. En retour le citoyen projette et crée un espace psychologique qui influence négativement ou positivement son environnement. L'objectif précis de montrer ceci m'échappe encore ; j'en suis pas complètement certains. Je sais seulement qu'il y a quelque chose d'important dans ces scènes ; important pour la compréhension du avant et du maintenant et pour celle du rapport d'une ville à ses citoyens, même celle de leur histoire commune.
