Juxtaposition/Paradoxe

Today's blog image is from 'Les Perspectives - Le Plateau' series. It grew on me in the past two weeks because of its composition. I liked the juxtaposition of the trashy look of the modern architecture of the metro canopy in the foreground and the vintage classic bucolic french renaissance architecture of the roof of the Maison de la Culture du Plateau Mont-Royal on the street behind in the background. Moreover, the minimalism of the composition and the extreme positioning of the only person in the frame to the very edge leaves all the room to this paradoxical juxtaposition. The presence of that person is nonetheless very important ; he suggests the public nature of the place. In the post production editing a light vignetting produced a dramatic effect in the sky highlighting the bicentennial architecture of the Maison.

Le blogue d'aujourd'hui est une image tirée de la série 'Les Perspectives - Le Plateau'. Elle a lentement fait une impression sur moi ces dernières semaines à cause de sa composition. J'ai aimé la juxtaposition de l'allure délabrée de l'architecture moderne du canopé du métro en avant-plan contre le look classique, vintage et bucolique renaissance française du toit de la Maison de la Culture du Plateau Mont-Royal en arrière plan sur l'avenue derrière. De plus, le minimalisme de la composition et l’extrême position de la seule personne dans le cadre, tout contre le bord, laisse toute la place à cette juxtaposition paradoxale. La présence de la personne est primordial dans l'ambiance par contre ; elle suggère l'aspect public de l'endroit. Dans l'édition poste production, un léger vignettage a produit un effet dramatique sur le ciel mettant en évidence l'architecture bicentenaire de la Maison.
