More MTL architecture

More MTL architecture

We have showed much of it but here is more. Sherbrooke Street in the Quartier Latin and in the Golden Square Mile is a must see street in Montreal for architecture enthusiasts

It is a very long street that traverses east/west almost every district of the city. You must know where to go for the beautiful architecture

This series was shot in 50mm fixed focal length lens ; not the best set up for architecture. Wide angle lenses are far better to create dramatic perspectives and long lead in lines in urban architecture. Shooting architecture with a fixed 50mm is a challenge for composition and perspective, particularly with cropped sensors. Shooting depth and angle perspectives doesn't yield the best results with that set up.

However, roof tops and roof elements can be well composed with the 50mm fixed focal and cropped sensor

it's best to take buildings straight on with perpendicular perspective in relation to the subject when using the 50mm fixed for architecture.

the french style mansard roofs are numerous and a pure delight in this town

Old and new is a thematic that has worked well for Montreal. It is a double edge sword for an architect however ; one must have a clever concept for this amalgamation to succeed in creating something significant and avant-garde
