Monoliths

This shot remained in my folders several months ; I finally decided to publish it after analyzing it several dozen times... This building, a fraction of it, is a part of the Olympic stadium installations (it now houses offices). Its design and geometrical shape is what motivated this photograph. The building's attributes weren't enough to make the image interesting however. I needed to use the light and the sky backdrop in sharp contrast to highlight those very attributes ; I also needed to frame tightly in order to explode the modular volumes of the design in order to engage the viewer. The black & white choice expands the conceptual nature of the shot, improving the impact.

Cette image est demeurée dans mes fichiers pendant des mois ; J'ai finalement décidé de là publier après l'avoir analysée des douzaines de fois... Cet édifice, une fraction du tout, fait parti des installations Olympiques (il abrite maintenant des bureaux). Son design est ce qui a motivé la prise. Les attributs géométriques de la structure n'étaient pas suffisant pour rendre l'image intéressante cependant. J'ai eu besoin d'utiliser la lumière et le ciel en fort contraste afin d'illustrer ces attributs ; J'ai aussi eu besoin de cadrer très serré afin d'exploser les volumes modulaires du design pour motiver le spectateur. Le choix du noir et blanc accentue la nature conceptuelle de la photo, améliorant l'impact.
