This high contrast black & white photography of the Place Ville Marie Tower is part of a study http://convozine.com/cityscapes/29345 that was created with the objective of bringing the viewer back to 1962, year of inauguration of this exceptional construction all the while keeping a modern edge. The high contrast black & white filter, obtained by post production editing, is what gives the photographs a vintage look and the creative compositions and framing is what creates the modern edge. In this excerpt, a small part of the complex was framed to emphasize the structure's noble materials and architectural features. This was thought out to avoid the cliche of showing the whole building as seen in thousands of photographs of this building published through the years. The time of day was also carefully selected to take advantage of the natural sun light flooding the building's surface ; this creates enhanced textures and impression.

de cette construction exceptionnelle tout en gardant un aspect
moderne. Le filtre noir & blanc, a haut contraste, obtenu en
édition postproduction est ce qui donne aux photographies leur
aspect rétro, et, le cadrage et la composition créative est ce qui
préserve la modernité de l’œuvre. Dans cet extrait, une petite
partie du complexe a été cadrée afin de mettre l'accent sur les
matériaux nobles de la structure et ses détails architecturaux.
Cette stratégie a aussi été appliquée afin d'éviter le cliché
de l'image redondante de la tour dans son entier telle que vue dans
des milliers de photographies publiées au fil des années. Le moment
de la journée fut également soigneusement choisi afin de profiter
de la lumière naturelle du soleil qui inonde la surface de
l'édifice ; ceci crée une impression forte et une texture
accrue.
