Art in the underground city - Montréal Art Souterrain International

The newest festival in town takes the underground city by storm
Montréal Art Souterrain 2014

In today's Blog you have a sample of our work on a fraction of the 100 plus pieces of art displayed this year in the tunnel and complex circuit. The underground has been one of our specialties from the very beginning of us. This time we focused on the subjects within the subject. It isn't the easiest of tasks to photograph other people's art and make it justice

I tried to envision what the artist would have envisioned as per the impact of his (her) piece in its architectural setting of the underground city show, or in its artificial environment such as the piece below

More than 40 artists from around the world showed their vision in the city's underground network

Created in 1962, the Montreal underground city, sprung from the Place Ville-Marie Complex, now boasts more than 35km of underground galleries and tunnels. The city beneath the street relays more than 40 buildings and encompasses 1200 boutiques and 400 restaurants. All amenities are present in this community, train station, medical clinics, lawyer firms, grocery stores, sports bars and dry cleaners.

The Montreal underground city is the world's largest

The city beneath is a blessing during the harshest winters such as this year's

The piece (above & below) is our 'coup de coeur' this year
